Within the academy we study all forms of Theatre Dance, Drama and Performance arts
Ballet
This forms the basis of all theatre dance, this is an excellent way to improve a child’s co-ordination, posture and ability to dance. Whether taking up dance as a career or just for fun this is a beautiful art form and will provide a solid grounding for other forms of theatre dance. Students work towards exams with the IDTA
Tap
Much fun can be achieved as young children can hear the sound they can make when tapping their toes. This soon progresses as the students begin to develop understanding of sound and rhythm and different dance styles. Students work towards exams with IDTA and UKA
Modern Theatre Dance
This is the type of dancing that you see performed in musicals. This class includes both theatre craft which is based on ballet and jazz which takes its style from more modern and contempory dance moves. Students work towards exams with the IDTA
Freestyle
This class is available to all ages within the school and this class is based on the type of dancing you see in the charts today. This is an extremely fun class and there is no emphasis on technique. Students work towards exams with the IDTA
Acrobatics
The type of gymnastics that is taught at the school is acrobatics. This is the more artistic side of gymnastic. This is taught within the children’s classes, an intense warm up is always carried out to develop the suppleness and strength needed to carry out some of the agilities. Students work towards gymnastic exams with the IDTA
