About us Thank you for paying an interest in Trapdoor Academy. We hope the following will answer any questions that you have. But if you need more information please feel free to contact us. How long as the academy been running? The academy started its first class in Sept 2008 there were 10 students enrolled, we now have over 200 students enjoying classes and the numbers keep on growing. What facilities are available? We are very careful about making sure that the venues we use match the classes on offer. For example musical theatre classes take place in fully equipped drama studio and performance arts classes have use of a stage and light equipment. What sort of tuition is available? - Dancing working towards exams with the IDTA
- Performance arts working towards exams with Trinity Guildhall
- Musical Theatre working towards exams with IDTA and Trinity Guildhall
- Acting working towards exams with LAMDA
- All classes are ’just for fun’ or working towards recognised exams
- All ages and abilities welcome from 3+
What chances do the students get to perform? Students get many chances perform as here at the academy we see shows as important as exams. All musical theatre, performance arts and dance students take part in the biannual Trapdoor Show and acting students perform a published play every year. We also provide dancers for local operatic societies, fates and festivals, this is an excellent opportunity and only the very committed and dedicated pupils get picked. How large are the classes? We limit the places in our classes to make sure that each child has the chance to reach their full potential. The amount of children in each class depends on the subject and the age of the children studying. Non of our classes have more than 15 places. However when the academy is rehearsing for a show, there are times when all children are needed. The students love these days as it is a chance to mix with other students in the academy, who they wouldn't normally see. |
